HOW DID YOUR PASSION FOR ART WAS BORN? AND CAN YOU TELL LITTLE ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY IN ILLUSTRATIONS TILL NOW
Drawing has always been a part of my life. I have always drawn, as long as I can remember. When I was a child, I was often curious about all those manual jobs that also had a creative inside, such as painting, cooking or hairdressing. Drawing was the most effective way to invent my inner world which I was very jealous of. Due to the great shyness in showing what I created, growing up I chose to take other paths, abandoning illustration for a while. Because of this, I decided to study restauration of cultural heritage, that has taught me to pay attention to details. During my studies I was not completely satisfied, so I came in contact with the world of tattoos, which rekindled in me the desire to create art that I had as a child. From that moment on, I decided to throw myself completely into the world of illustration and tattoos.
CONSIDERING YOUR WORK IN TATTOO ARTS HOW DO YOU CONNECT WITH NATURE IN YOUR ART?
I grew up in the countryside, surrounded by nature. Nature has always been a constant and particulary positive presence in my life, since I have always found there everything I needed, which is why I have always considered it as an integral part of my illustrations. I am thrilled to be able to render the delicacy of flowers and plants on skin, through a very thin line, sometimes broken to let in the light.
WHEN YOU FOCUS ON THE TATTOO ART HOW DO YOU BALANCE THE AESTHETICS & THE TECHNICAL ASPECT OF CREATIVITY ?
My studies in cultural heritage restoration have greatly influenced my way of tattooing, they greatly improved my concentration in delicate moments, and in the creation of very fine and precise lines. They also brought me closer to ancient culture, such as Greek and Latin mythology. I like the contrasts between old and new, that I try to render technically through the use of the most classic hatching, made more modern by simple and quick brushstrokes of color.
IN WHICH WAY DOES YOUR ART WORK EXPAND TOWARDS THE BELIEF OF NATURE AND SPIRITUAL THOUGHTS OF A PERSON ?
I believe that, especially in this time, people need to find themselves throughout the connection with nature. During the pandemic, it has been necessary to take care of ourselves and our environment. Lot of people succeeded in this aim taking care of plants and flowers in their homes, others joining the loneliness of a wonderful naturalistic environment. I personally find peace and inner positivity just having a walk in a wood, or watching to a tree. This is what I’d like to transmit through my illustrations. Furthermore, I think that art and nature, mixed together, are a cure to both body and spirit. This connects to the will of imprime a sign on the skin. Sometimes, trying to exorcize spiritual scars is just a way to disguise real scars on our body.
CAN YOU TELL ABOUT YOUR PAINTINGS AND IN WHICH DIRECTION IS THE ARTISTIC PRACTICE DEDICATED TO ?
The purpose of my art is to give serenity and positivity to the viewer. I want to bring satisfaction and smiles to people. Especially in the creation of tattoos I try to connect with people by listening to their stories and paying attention to the details of what they tell. It gives me immense satisfaction to be told that my drawings convey exactly what they had in mind.
IN WHICH WAY DOES YOUR ART GUIDE THE PEOPLE IN EXPLORING THROUGH THEIR EXPERIENCES ?
In my experience, people who appreciate my art often approach to nature as a place, reminding the past, in which they feel good. It reminds a state of peace usually lived as a child; it is a personal space in which you can re-born, such as a plant from its own roots. The vivid colour and its brushstrokes help people to connect to their most childish part of themselves.
IS THERE ANY FUTURE PAINTINGS AND CREATIVE TATTOO WORK YOU WANT TO SHARE WITH US TO EXPAND THE “DARE” HORIZON IN A PROVOKING COLLECTIVE SOCIAL EXPERIENCE?
I think is more important to create a quiet mindful place free from “dare” as already exist in nature world. Also in the tattoos I always try to give space and freedom to everyone’s intimate thoughts, without prejudice.
