A 25 years-old freelance artist from Bern. His name is Micha Häni and he started his career in 2016 focusing on painting, graffiti and illustrations.
The most difficult thing about painting is actually not the painting itself, but the idea behind it. I often need more time to come up with ideas than to implement them.
Hi Micha. I was immediately intrigued about your stage name. Why did you choose to use “Vierwind” as stage one? What does it mean for you?
I have thought about a name for several months. "Vierwind" simply fits. I like that the name consists of two words that you know, but would not immediately connect. Of course, the name must also be easy to write. So, you can write it in various forms. e.g. "Four wind" - "4 wind" - and sometimes I only scribble a "4".
Do you have a favorite artist, who inspires you?
I don’t have a favorite one, there are too many!
So, where do you get your inspiration from?
I think I get my inspiration from everyday things. The best ideas come then out of nowhere if I don’t push it…but each of my paintings has a different message. That’s why the sources of inspiration are different. Depending on the theme of the design I then delve into the corresponding topic.
What's the hardest thing about painting?
The most difficult thing about painting is actually not the painting itself, but the idea behind it. I often need more time to come up with ideas than to implement them.
How much time does a painting take to finish?
It depends: sometimes days sometimes weeks, but the whole idea behind it usually takes much longer for me than the realization. The idea for the last painting I just finished has been in my head for over a year, but I never dared to start it. This was probably the biggest technical challenge of colors, details, light and shadow so far. So, stay tuned!!
How did you feel about presenting your pictures to the public at your first exhibition?
It can be compared to a musician, who has just released a new album. After several months of hard work and a lot of ups and downs, one naturally wonders how it will come about, how people will react to it and whether I can impress people through my art. It is a step into the unknown. It is an indescribable feeling, especially at a first exhibition, when the time comes. I have worked towards this moment for over half a year. When it started, I was just happy and happy about every single visitor. You can find pictures of this on my homepage.
"It is important to me to keep growing in my art and therefore I always set myself new goals. Even those that currently hardly seem to be attainable. I don't want to set myself any limits."
Are you still working elsewhere as a freelance artist?
I offer various things and don't just live on murals and canvases. For example, I also work for fashion labels, create CD covers for musicians and give workshops. Last year I also worked for the finance department by creating hand-drawn explanatory videos for them. From time to time I also help out as a polydesigner for colleagues.
What about the future?
It is important to me to keep growing in my art and therefore I always set myself new goals. Even those that currently hardly seem to be attainable. I don't want to set myself any limits. I personally want to keep developing and getting better. I believe that success comes when you are determined, patient and passionate about something and never give up.
Do you have a favorite letter to write? If yes, could you show us please?
There are so many, but I think it’s the letter “E”.
As last question, could you write “dare” with your own style?
