CHIARA LICCESE: MUSIC IS MY ESSENCE

Chiara Liccese is a young singer who was born with a strong passion for music that is like a warm and safe place, like a refuge. Chiara, together with his team, is working on a new project called Maisha that she cannot wait to present to the audience.

HI CHIARA! TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOU, HOW WAS YOUR PASSION FOR MUSIC BORN?

Hi, I'm Chiara, a university student and I live in a small town in the province of Milan, Vittuone. I've been singing forever; in fact I like to say that my passion for music was born with me. When my mother welcomed me into the world, I was immediately thrown into a world of music, because she is the first to have always lived from it. I was born and raised in a musical environment, and I would not be able to imagine life without music, which has always accompanied me, holding my hand, like a good parent during the life of their children, supporting me in the hardest moments but also in the most enlightening ones, always.

WHAT IS MUSIC FOR YOU? I MEAN WHAT ROLE DOES IT PLAY?

As I grew up, music became not only a passion for me and then a job, but also a safe place where I could take refuge, a friend with whom I could let off steam and express myself without filters. I feel the need for it more and more every day, it is a real therapy for the soul, my strength and at the same time a great salvation.

HOW DO YOU WANT AND TRY TO DISTINGUISH YOURSELF IN THE MUSIC SCENE?

In the music scene I want and try to stand out, I aspire to be unique in my genre, I work a lot on myself and on the continuous evolution of my music always very contaminated and I can't wait to make you listen ;) There is a need for something different and innovative that is able to intrigue and stimulate the listening of the public, but which at the same time can become a safe place where people can find themselves and see themselves again, taking refuge and letting themselves be carried away exactly as I do when I experiment with my music. It is a continuous research for me in terms of interpretation, text and sound. The result of all this will only be perceptible through listening to it.

IN YOUR OPINION NOWADAYS HOW AN ARTIST CAN BE ORIGINAL IN THE WORLD OF MUSIC?

Today, in the world of music, you can make yourself original by doing something that no one else has ever had the courage to do, by pushing yourself beyond conventions and copies, by experimenting and enjoying every part of your musical project in such a way that you can discover yourself and also be discovered and enjoyed by the audience. The taste must be culturally familiar but, at the same time, something unknown and new.

IN YOUR OPINION WHAT DOES “DARE” MEAN IN MUSIC?

For me, daring in music means having courage and boldness, going against the tide in a sea of masks in order to stir up real emotions and, why not, also some reflections.

ARE YOU WORKING ON SOME NEW PROJECT AT THE MOMENT?

For a few years now, together with my manager Rosa Bulfaro, her dream factory 'Miró Music School' and my team of writers and producers, whom I consider above all great friends, I have been working on my new project: Maisha. Maisha will be my stage name and in Swahili it means 'life'. In fact, my project is strongly connected to extra-continental sounds and stories.

When I’ll have the honor to let you listen to my music I will finally be able to say that I exist and I have chosen to call myself Maisha because my music is my essence, it is life, and we can't wait to be born.
