TELL ME SOMETHING ABOUT YOU & WHERE YOU FROM AND WHO WERE YOUR BIGGEST ARTISTIC INFLUENCERS?
My name is Alessandro Grimoldieu, I was born and grew up in Milan.
I started working as a model when I was a child, when social medias didn’t exist. I remember that my manager collected in a huge book all my most valuable works.
HOW DID YOU START AS A FASHION INFLUENCER? WHY DID YOU CHOSE TO BECOME AN INFLUENCER, AND WHAT YOU THINK IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE PROFESSION?
I debuted on the big screen when I was 18 years old, I played in an International advertisement for a famous car manufacturer and that was the first time when my face appeared also in the web and in YouTube. Over the years I have continued to work as a model and actor but within myself I knew that I wanted to create my own virtual space that allowed me to tell about myself and not to be just a figure put over a catwalk or in a set.
I started using Facebook like a portfolio and then I moved to Instagram. At the beginning this social was really interesting because you could post photograph in Polaroid format exclusively taken using the app. This feature rendered the social instant and appealing. Over the years Instagram has changed because it became a mix of all social medias: the stories evoke Snapchat, the IG tv remembers YouTube and the most recent reels recall TikTok. It becomes even more difficult to keep the pace with the constant changes of socials and the influencers’ world is getting bigger day by day.
I think that everyday in the web a new crazy trend originates: we are full of trends and people don’t know what to do to reach the fame anymore. I have always thought that is better not to overdo it just to draw attention, even because once you upload something on internet it won’t never disappear completely.
WHAT DO THEY THINK IS THE WEIRDEST FASHION TREND ON THE INTERNET? HOW DO THEY DEAL WITH TROLLS ON THE INTERNET?
I have many trolls, fake profiles and stalkers who follow me on Instagram, generally I tend to answer to every offence because I know that behind a screen there is a person who probably is behaving like that because he has some problem or affliction. When I participated to the reality show “Riccanza” I received many critics but I have always tried to explain people the meaning of the world “show”. The biggest problem is that many people don’t see the difference between reality and show or web business. Those who know me know that my personality can’t be circumscribed just to the moment in which I appear in the screen.
WHICH CELEBRITY WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY A MAKEOVER ON? WHAT KIND OF BRAND DO YOU LIKE TO COLLABORATE WITH?
Haha it’s really difficult to me say what celebrity is my inspiration because I don’t have a real, defined type. In addition many times people say to me that I look like someone else but every time is a different celebrity (except for David Bowie). I am very chameleonic and I like changing without changing my style and aesthetic sense. One of the brand I have never worked with, excepting the beauty side, and with I would like to collaborate is Yves Saint Lauren. I will never forget the advertising campaign that the brand realised with Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson with that decadent rock flavour.
ARE YOU MORE OF A SPONTANEOUS PERSON OR THE KIND WHO LIKES TO PLAN EVERYTHING FROM BEFORE? DO YOU SCHEDULE YOUR CONTENT FROM BEFORE OR DO THEY DO THAT ON GO?
My first approaches to Instagram were very spontaneous. I remember when I was in Las Vegas on business and I posted many shots in the hotels and during the pool parties with my model colleagues. Over the years and mostly with the changing of the algorithm, I became even more precise because it is easy to choose the wrong moment for publishing a post and get a negative feedback. In addition I try to maintain an harmonious chromatic and geometrical composition in my feed and for this reason I have to selected new contents looking at the previous posts.
WHAT IS YOUR MAIN GOAL AS AN INFLUENCER?
My greatest goal as influencer is to carry on my aesthetic and artistic sense. I am not interesting in reaching a mainstream fame, I am interested in the niche of people who really appreciate what I have to communicate. Often I have to make unconventional choices and more often I have to anticipate future trends as I live like an outsider.
WHO ARE YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE, AND HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO ATTRACT AN AUDIENCE FROM THE TARGETED GROUP?
Discussing various arguments from fashion to lifestyle, from travel world to art one, I don’t have a precise target. Often it happens to me to know people and share with them my instagram profile but even in that case, I join various circles different between them. I think that my followers are interested in exploring new stuff even if they come from different areas. I am not that kind of influencers who accept every collaborations looking at the profit: often I refuse many signings precisely because they don’t represent me or my aesthetics.
IS THERE ANY FUTURE WORK YOU WANT TO SHARE WITH US TO EXPAND THE "DARE" HORIZON IN A PROVOKING COLLECTIVE SOCIAL EXPERIENCE?
Alongside my job as influencer I have a jewellery company for many years now. I have always been fascinated by the fusion between fashion and art, I like defining my creations as “art to wear”. Recently I have been working on a huge artistic project that will bring my goldsmith art in the world of contemporary sculpture. I cannot wait to share with you from DARE my next creative adventure :)
